You know…the ever-dreaded label… “Bridezilla”. No one wants that name following them, and frankly, there are really not as many of those types as you may think. We all have our moments, but usually those are reserved for a few select individuals we trust (the lucky ones!). We want you to be as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside, so lest you be tempted to have a public, unfiltered moment, here’s just a few little reminders as you journey through this sometimes overwhelming process of wedding planning.
- Non stop wedding talk is no good! Of course, be excited, but here’s a little secret…everyone you meet is NOT focused on your wedding day! The world still turns with plenty of events to keep it occupied, so make sure you remember to keep some perspective in your every day conversations.
- Divas are unbecoming. People wish you well and want you to be happy but will not drop everything and focus on you at your beck and call. Demands, intimidation, and bad attitudes are never qualities humans flock to, so make sure you treat those around you with care and respect. Weddings are stressful, but so is dealing with someone with a sense of entitlement.
- You have a budget…don’t budge from it! If you overspend to achieve what you perceive as perfection, you set yourself up for crash and burn. Not only you, but your fiance, parents, and anyone else that may have graciously chipped in to help. The goal of your wedding day is to be married. Period. Everything else is just icing on the cake, so to speak!
- You hired professionals, now relax. You did your research on each one and signed the contract. Trust and respect their skill and expertise, stand back, and let them do what they do best…and they will with excellence. If you hired right, these professionals will follow up after the wedding and make sure all was to your satisfaction.
Remember, you are never alone during this process. Take the well meaning offers of help, and never forget that relationships are far more important than details. Every single time.
